Classroom learning is best for kids, for teachers, and for parents. And if we want classroom learning, our schools must be safe, and open.

In early 2020, Oklahoma and the entire world were confronted with the new and highly contagious virus that has come to be known as COVID-19. Public education leaders were forced to act quickly to protect the health and safety of the thousands of children and educators in Oklahoma’s public schools. Schools were closed for classroom instruction statewide for the end of the 2020 school year.

Through all the frustration and heartache that came with distance learning, parents gained new appreciation for the work, skill, and patience it takes to teach our children in the classroom every day.

OKPLAC stands for keeping Oklahoma’s public schools safe and open for classroom instruction.

We advocate for all eligible Oklahomans to receive the free COVID-19 vaccination and follow-up boosters, with their doctor’s approval.

We support local school districts being empowered to make local decisions to help curb COVID and keep their community schools safe and open.

And we ask our state leaders to put politics aside and set policy that protects public health and keeps our schools safe and open.
